The
company HIJOS DE ESPUNY, S.A. was founded in 1917 by D. Daniel Espuny Aleixandri,
grandfather of the present owners. An active businessman and entrepreneur, belonging
to a Catalan oil family, he decided to move to Andalusia, being as it was the
foremost olive region, and set up an olive mill (now a family museum) and, shortly
afterwards, installed several extractors which used the most advanced technology
of their time.
After
his premature death in 1942, he was succeeded at the helm of the business
by his sons, D. Daniel and D. Joaquín Espuny Solsona who, throughout five
decades, not only consolidated and expanded the company, but also diversified
into other business areas thus creating a solid business group.
Nowadays,
the company is solely in the hands of the family, which continues to stay
true to the values handed down by their elders: hard work and obsession
with quality and consistency. Added to this is the solvency and prestige
gained throughout almost a century of uninterrupted activity.
The installations are to be found in Osuna, a town that is equidistant from
Seville, Córdoba and Málaga right in the heart of Andalusia.
